EBS Childcare Happenings…

For
November the Preschool and Childcare embraces the theme "We Give
Thanks". Parents and family friends enjoyed our
annual Thanksgiving Luncheon events where a complete Thanksgiving meal was
cooked and served by staff members. The children prepared table
decorations and desserts. We look forward to this event each year because
it gives us an opportunity for the facility to come together as a family to
give thanks for our many blessings. The children also explored the social issue of voting and the
older classes looked into what an election is. What a wonderful mission EBS is for
FRUMC!!!
The
children will be working on the numbers 7, 8, 9, letters B,R, the square shape,
and begin recognition of the last name now that recognition of the first has
been mastered. They will begin tracing complete shapes. Teachers
will have activities that include tearing, cutting, folding, and gluing objects
along lines and squiggles. They will sort by colors, make groups of
numbers of objects, and also look to classify items to be the same or
different. Color mixing will be introduced and the children will explore
feeling the "thump" or beat in music, clapping to the beat and
keeping time. The idea of a sentence being made of words to express ideas
will be explored and pointed out in the many books we read, as well as on a
sentence strip. Bible stories include “Jacob and Esau Are Born”; “Jacob
Cheats Esau”; “Jacob and Esau Forgive”; and “Elizabeth and Zechariah”.
The presentation of these stories is part of the Rock Solid preschool
curriculum that is also used in the preschool-aged Sunday School class.
The older children also visit with the Pastor each Monday in the Sanctuary for
chapel.

EBS Childcare Report …
All church members are invited to the EBS Christmas Program on
December 16 at 7pm in the sanctuary. The EBS
committee is also seeking FRUMC members willing to serve on the committee which
meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 4:30 in the library.
There are currently only 3 active members—please call Beth
Waller if you’re interested in finding out how you can get
involved. The main focus for 2009 will be increasing awareness in the
congregation that EBS is a wonderful mission of the church and reaching out
more to the un-churched families it serves to invite them to join our FRUMC
family. Any ideas and your support would be appreciated. You can tell by
the atmosphere in the facility that the children and staff are happy.
Feel free to refer E.B.S. to anyone you hear is looking for placement in
preschool or childcare. Please keep our ministry in your prayers, and spread
the word of the wonderful work that is done.
